Rank Your Website In The Search Engine

If you are thinking about using SEO “Search Engine Optimization” to get more traffic, then the whole goal would be to try to get your website ranked in the search engines for the keywords you want to target.
Here are some of the basics on how to get your website to rank in the search engines. If you do not choose the right keywords in the beginning, then the rest of the work that you would do to get your websites ranked in the search engines would be done for nothing.

You need to start by choosing the right keywords to target. Make sure the keyword(s) you choose have good traffic potential, are fairly easy to rank for, and have the potential to make you money.
You will need the help of a keyword tool to help you get an idea of traffic potential and other data. You can use the free Google Adwords Keyword Tool.
If you want something that can help you figure out how difficult or easy a keyword is to rank for and get helpful data on traffic value, competition, etc., you may want to invest in another keyword tool such as Market Samurai (free trial available) or Micro Niche Finder.
You can do some of the stuff that these tools do but it will take you a lot longer. However these tools do offer a little something extra and that is one reason they are paid tools.

On Page SEO

Once you have chosen your main keyword and any other keywords you would like to target, you need to keep this in mind when creating your site. You should get your website optimized for your keywords.
This is what you would refer to as on page SEO “Search Engine Optimization”. You can check out this article to learn more: On page SEO – The Basics.

Off page SEO

Once you have optimized your website for the keywords you want to target, the final step is getting people to link to your website. They will do so naturally if you provide great content but sometimes that will not be enough to rank for your keywords. You need to do some link building and get links pointing back to your website. The more quality links that you have pointing back to your site, the higher you will rank for your keyword. You can learn more about off page SEO “Search Engine Optimization” and how to build backlinks.
This is what it basically takes to rank your websites in the search engines. Although there is much more to on page and off page SEO which is explained in my other articles, if you get them both right and have selected good keywords, you could get consistent traffic to your website which could lead to money for you.
